This photo series captures a performance piece called Scenes from a marriage done by Olga Chagaoutdinova and Wilfredo Candebat Lusson at Nuit Blanche Saskatoon 2016. I chose to take these photographs in a non-documentary style because I was interested in looking at the area surrounding their venue and the people watching them perform. I captured the view of the spectators as they watched from up close and far away. The images were taken using a long exposer technique to show the movement of the people and to capture the energy of the event. Performative art is not a static or lifeless event, which is another reason why I chose to use a long exposer technique to show the movement of the event. The ghost like effect gives the viewers a sense of movement, which adds to the idea of Nuit Blanche because everyone at the event walked and moved from venue to venue. During their performance, Olga and Wilfredo showed happy, sad, and difficult scenes from a marriage pulling in elements from his Cuban culture and her Russian culture. The story of this performance reflects in the story of the photographs. The link between the photographs captures the movement of the entire night and displays the feelings of the viewers.
