When I think of landscape I think of a line, a line that describes and outlines an area. It is what defines a space and what makes that space unique because that is space is something due to its landscape. The definition of a landscape is “All the visible features of an area of countryside or land, often considered in terms of their aesthetic appeal”. But I think that a landscape can be so much more than this. It can be shown on a micro level and on something that people don’t necessarily associate the term “landscape” with. This is why I choose to portray the micro landscape of trees. I specifically choose the trees that have been dubbed the name “The Crooked Trees” which are located near Hafford S.K. In these images I wanted to portray the simplicity and beauty that a tree has and the way it can become the form of a landscape by how it bends and weaves amongst its fellow trees. I wanted to show that a tree can become a line that describes and outlines an area and in turn appeal to people who want to further venture and discover what a landscape is and what it can be. As said in the definition of the word landscape, it has to do with the aesthetic appeal of an object or place which is exactly what trees are and what they do. The landscape of a tree is a unique and different view that many will not understand but it is my hope to inspire and show that it is one among many landscape forms that is there for us to acquire knowledge from.
